Information shared within counseling sessions is kept confidential with few exceptions. At times it is necessary to involve others in the healing process. Those exceptions include: 1. Clients who are suicidal or homicidal. 2. Clients disclose the abuse of a minor or elderly person. Sharing personal information is also necessary if a client wishes to use health insurance or if a counselor is subpoenaed to testify in a court case. All counseling clients of Kairos receive a HIPPA notice of privacy practices prior to the first session and are encouraged to share any questions or concerns regarding our policy.
