Counseling is a collaborative effort between you and your therapist. Counselors provide a non-judgmental, safe atmosphere as well as insight and perspective on your situation. However, the biggest factor in the change process is always your willingness to be an active participant. Through making a commitment to the counseling process by attending scheduled appointments and actively working on therapy goals outside of sessions, positive change and growth occur.

Depending on the issues that brought you to therapy, this process can take a couple of sessions or it may require several months of commitment. This is a decision your therapist will make with you during your initial appointment.

Here's a list of questions we get asked the most.

The Charlotte Metro region is blessed with literally hundreds of LCMHCs (Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor.), LCSWs (Licensed Clinical Social Workers, LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists) and Pastoral Counselors to choose from.

With so many, how does one go about selecting the best counselor for a particular issue? The American Counseling Associatation states that counselors must practice only within the boundaries of the competence. Just as one would choose to consult a cardiologist versus a general practitioner for heart issues, so one should choose a counselor based on that clinician's training and expertise.

At Kairos Coaching & Counseling, we specialize in treatment of the following:
